Lassithi Plateau mountain villages
The Lassithi Plateau is a wide, fertile mountain plain ringed by the Dikti range, dotted with farming villages and famous (historically) for its windmills. The drive up is one of the most scenic in central Crete.
Diktaean Cave — the Zeus Cave
According to mythology, Zeus was born and hidden in the Diktaean Cave above the village of Psychro. The walk down into the cave reveals dramatic stalactite and stalagmite formations and is one of the most atmospheric sites on the island.
