Spinalonga Island history and Mirabello Bay
Spinalonga is the small fortress island at the entrance of Mirabello Bay, opposite Elounda and Plaka. The island was a Venetian fortress and later a 20th-century leprosy colony, and today it is one of the most visited cultural sites in eastern Crete. On this excursion you cruise across Mirabello Bay, walk the island loop with its restored walls, gate and chapel, then continue to Kolokytha Bay for swimming.

Kolokytha Bay is a sheltered turquoise inlet protected from open-sea wind. The boat anchors close to the shore so guests can swim, snorkel and relax for an extended stop before lunch onboard or in Agios Nikolaos.
