About this excursion
A day in South Crete with some history and plenty of beach time. The first stop is Gortys, one of the most important ancient sites in the south of the island. Then we continue to Matala, known for its sandy beach, sea views and the cliff caves that became famous in the 1960s hippie era. You have about 4.5 hours of free time in Matala to swim, see the caves, walk around the village, have lunch by the sea or shop for souvenirs.
